Transitioning into fall

Well, it’s time. At least according to Starbucks and their pumpkin spice latte schedule, it officially fall. Which by all basic standards, it’s time to get out your booties and scarves, right? Um not if you’re in the midwest in 100 degree heat! But there is a way to transition into those fall staples, at least one at a time!

My favorite way to start wearing fall items is booties with dresses. You can still sport bare legs and your summer dresses by adding a cute fall bootie, especially if it’s an open toe bootie. If you’re working in an office, throw on a jacket or cardigan for those times the A/C comes blaring on.

I also love pairing mules with distressed jeans and a knit top. It’s still keeps you cool, but you might able to let your summer pedi go a bit longer between appointments.

Grab your lighter jackets to pair with skirts and blouses. Now it’s perfect to use your lighter cardigans to layer over your camis – you can look professional and put together without feeling like you’re stepping out of hot yoga.

When its cool in the morning but heats up toward the afternoon, a cute pair of shorts with a long sleeve top or lightweight sweater won’t let you heat up too much. With a tank or cami underneath, you can layer up without being too hot later on in the day. If you’re going casual, wear a sweatshirt with tennis shoes; if you are going a little dressier, I love a cami layered with a cardigan or a button down with a light weight pullover with flats.

So as you hope that the weather cools off a bit (thank you rainy days!), take a peak in your closet and see what summer pieces you can transition into fall. And don’t fret, the hot weather will be cooling off before we know it, and we’ll be covered in the blanket scarves we nabbed during the Nordstrom sale!

Happy shopping!
